Mission Statement of the Spokane Symphony Society

Orchestral music nurtures the human spirit and is integral to the preservation and development of culture. The Society provides professional orchestral performances and education to the Inland Northwest. We are committed to great music, excellence and innovation, and financial stewardship.

Statement of Purpose

We believe our Symphony nurtures the human spirit and enhances the quality of life. We serve the individual concert goer and the community by presenting consistently, higher quality performances and activities for an expanding audience within a sound financial framework.

Program Policy Statement

The Spokane Symphony Society will offer a variety of enlightening, well structured, entertaining, provocative, and challenging symphonic and chamber orchestra programs. These programs will provide cultural enrichment to the Symphony's audience, contribute to the expansion of that audience, and aid in the artistic development of the Orchestra. The Society will provide new musical experiences for its audience and musicians, especially contributing to the development and performance of the contemporary repertoire and American music, placing it in a musical context, which is related to the traditional orchestral repertoire. Programming will generally, reflect the developing tastes of the Symphony's audience, consistent with the economic conditions and fiscal responsibility of the Society.
