Fundraising Events

The SSA works tirelessly to raise funds to support the Spokane Symphony. As a result of our efforts this year, the Associates were able to donate $198,000 to the Annual Fund. This was presented to Executive Director Brenda Nienhouse, Music Director Eckart Preu, and Board President Maggie Crawford at a special presentation ceremony.

Upcoming Fundraising Events

The following is a brief description of our major fundraising projects:

ESPRESSO BOOTH AT ART ON THE GREEN:

On August 1, 2 & 3, the Mechetti Chapter sells espresso & granitas at Art on the Green in Coeur d'Alene.

HORN HARMONY ON A HAYDEN HILLSIDE:
Coming August 24, 2008, this outdoor concert features Brassworks, brass quintet of SSO musicians, on the grounds of a private home at Hayden Lake. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided by Mechetti Chapter. $30 per person. For more information, call 208-762-4118.

SUMMER SOIREE AT BEACON HILL:
Our 5th Annual Soiree will be held on Thursday evening, September 4, 2008 at beautiful Beacon Hill, and features 35 wines from around the world to taste and purchase, delicious hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction of one-of-a-kind items and live music in the garden by the Nicole Lewis Quartet. A "don't miss" summer party! All for only $35 per person.

CHRISTMAS TREE ELEGANCE:
This is the 26th Anniversary of a festival of exciting events to begin the holiday season which is the Associates' largest fundraiser in support of the Spokane Symphony. Enjoy free tree viewing for 8 days on the mezzanine of The Davenport Hotel, four luncheons with Macy's Style Show, Gala Dinner Dance, tree raffles & more! Begins December 5, 2008.

LET'S PLAY FOR THE SYMPHONY:

Monday, March 31, 2008 was the 18th year Forte Plus Chapter hosts this game day and luncheon at Manito Golf and Country Club. Friends get together to play bridge, mah jongg, scrabble, pinochle or other table games. Play commences at 10 AM and ends at 3 PM. The chapter serves lunch. There will also be an Elegant White Elephant Silent Auction. Call Char at 458-8733 for more information.

BLOOM IN TUNE:

Each spring since 1984, Bernstein Chapter takes over the sales duties at Camyn's Nursery for a day and receives a percentage of the sales. This year, it took place on May 8, the Thursday before Mother's Day. Call Char at 458-8733 for more information.

TOURS:

SSA organizes tours to various outstanding musical performances outside of our area. Recent venues: Vienna in 2000; New York in 2001 to hear Thomas Hampson; Chicago in 2002 to hear YoYo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble; Czech out Germany in 2003; and San Francisco in January 2004 to hear Thomas Hampson. 2007 Eckart's Germany was a resounding success, where participants were able to experience Germany through Eckart's eyes!
