JORGE LUIS UZCÁTEGUI, CONDUCTOR
STATE STREET BALLET
RODNEY GUSTAFSON, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

For the seventh year in a row, Santa Barbara’s internationally acclaimed State Street Ballet will perform The Nutcracker with the Spokane Symphony and Conductor Jorge Luis Uzcátegui, at the beautifully renovated Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Experience Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score performed live by the Spokane Symphony. State Street Ballet will be joined by nearly 100 local dancers in telling E.T.A. Hoffman’s story of Clara and her nutcracker prince.

Fresh off an international tour to Santiago, Chile and a sold-out season opener with the Santa Barbara Symphony, State Street Ballet returns to Spokane with a cast of superstar dancers from around the world. A company with a renowned reputation across the United States, China, Taiwan, and Chile, State Street Ballet is now in its 23rd season, is dedicated to bringing dance to all communities, and has extensive education and outreach programs that coincide with fully-produced local and touring performances.

This year’s cast for The Nutcracker in Spokane includes principal dancers from around the world in the leading role of the Sugar Plum Fairy: Deise Mendonça from Brazil, Marika Kobayashi from Japan and Manuela Navarro from Panama. Also featured as the Cavalier will be Cuban dance Francois Llorente, Gold Medalist at the 2017 World Ballet Competition. State Street Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker also includes nearly 100 local dance students from Spokane in the roles of mice, soldiers, angels, bon bons, and party children.
