SPOKANE – Terrain and the Spokane Symphony announce the newest collaborative venture, known as “Spokane Symphony + Terrain: Uncharted.” This year, the two arts organizations will present a unique version of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at Terrain’s home space on the ground floor of the Washington Cracker Building. There will be two performances on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15, both beginning at 8 p.m.
“Uncharted” is an innovative and original performance featuring the work of several local artists and musical collaborations between Symphony musicians and variety of Spokane area bands. The event will feature a unique take on Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Under the baton of Music Director Eckart Preu, the Spokane Symphony will perform the iconic work with concertmaster Mateusz Wolski as soloist. The work will be augmented by various local artists and bands, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.
Creative forces from Terrain are headed up by writer Shawn Vestal, Spokesman review columnist and author of the novel Daredevils and the award-winning short story collection Godforsaken Idaho; alternative grit-pop group Lavoy, who put on a spectacle of a live show; musician-songwriter Windoe (Karli Fairbanks now Ingersoll), who compiles a lush palette of melodic colors over the foundation of simply good songs; and poet and performer Mark Anderson, co-founder of the Broken Mic Poetry Series.
Additional contributing artists include: musician-songwriter Jenny Anne Mannan; writer Elissa Ball; theatrical creators Charlie Pepiton and Brooke Kiener; visual artist Darrien Mack, aerialist John Hernandez; dancer Mackenzie Fagras; and multi-dimensional artist Lou Pink (Jamie Nicole Nadherny).
“We’re bringing together Spokane’s emerging and established artists to interpret Vivaldi’s classic,” Terrain Co-Founder Ginger Ewing said. “We couldn’t be more proud than to work with Eckart Preu and the Spokane Symphony.”
“This event gives us the opportunity to reach beyond our boundaries and create an exciting original work for Spokane audiences,” stated Preu.
