Baroque Series and The M Show Take Orchestra Outside the Concert Hall

SPOKANE —The Spokane Symphony announces two new concert series to be added to the 2017-2018 Season. The first is a 2-concert Baroque Series created by Music Director Eckart Preu and will be performed in area churches in December and March. The second is The M Show: Music Mayhem and Mystery, a 2-concert series created by Spokane Symphony Concertmaster Mateusz Wolski, is a 2-concert series planned for January and May. Season tickets for both series go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, April 26.
The Baroque Series, conducted by Preu, will feature a chamber orchestra performing works from the Baroque period in two Spokane churches. The first concert, “A Festive Baroque Christmas,” featuring music composed for the Christmas season and Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music. There will be two performances on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. The Spokane Symphony Chorale joins the ensemble for the second concert, “Venice: The Magical City,” features music by Viennese composers, including Albinoni and Vivaldi. Two performances will be held on Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18, 2018. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
The M-Show is an unorthodox new series led and created by Wolski. Each concert will pair classical virtuosity with humor and surprises. Wolski, an accomplished video-gamer and race-car driver, will bring his thirst for adventure, intrigue and artistic collaborations to the program to create a dynamic, immersive experience around selected themes. There will be two performances of each concert. The first will be on Friday, Jan. 19 and Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. The second will be held on Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25, 2018. All performances begin at 8 p.m. at alternate venues to be announced.
Season tickets to either series are $54 for General Admission seating, a 25% savings over single tickets. Those who purchase season tickets to this series will enjoy the same subscriber benefits enjoyed by Spokane Symphony subscribers, including free ticket exchanges and advance access to specials.
