ANCIENT TALES OF MAGIC: THE MUSIC OF HARRY POTTER & OTHER HALLOWEEN FAVORITES
CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
Deadline: June 3, 2019
Winners announced: June 12, 2019
Write an ancient tale of wizards, magic, beasts, creatures or anything magical. The idea is for this to be an ancient tale that somehow connects to the modern wizarding world, its characters and stories, but without using characters already known. These must be completely original yet somehow connect historically to the Harry Potter series. The music is the most important angle in creating the story, so listen to the selections as much as possible.
Once the stories are chosen, we will create choreography with dancers, actors and/or a magician to create the visual elements. The narrative doesn’t have to connect with the composer’s original story attached to the work.
Students can pick from the following pieces:
(Please look up the music on YouTube)
Camille Saint-Saëns -Danse Macabre Richard Wagner -Ride of the Valkyries Edvard Grieg -In The Hall of The Mountain King Camille Saint-Saëns -"Aquarium" from Carnival of the Animals Guiseppi Verdi - Overture from Forza Del Destino
